Syed Ali Akbar Sherazi

Born in Brooklyn, New York, raised in Levittown, New York Ali was deeply loved and cherished by his entire family. He was full of laughter, joy, and an unmistakable light. His beautiful smile could fill a room, and he brought immense joy into the lives of everyone he touched. Ali loved soccer, baseball, spelling, traveling, and experiencing the world with his family.

Ali was raised in the Shia Muslim faith, with a deep connection to the Ahlul Bayt woven throughout his life. He was a two-time Zawar-e-Hussain, including making the sacred journey for Arbaeen in 2019, and in 2025, he was blessed to perform Umrah. These sacred journeys remain a beautiful part of his story.

Ali lived with NGLY1 Deficiency, an extremely rare genetic disorder, as well as autism and later significant medical challenges. But no diagnosis could ever capture who Ali was. He was a beloved son, brother, traveler, a source of laughter and immense joy, and an entire world to those who loved him.

On June 5, 2026, at thirteen years old, Ali peacefully returned to Allah at home, surrounded by the family who loved him beyond measure. His final resting place is at Roslyn Cemetery in Long Island, New York.

Through this website, we hope to preserve Ali’s story, raise awareness about NGLY1 Deficiency, and continue acts of love and service in his memory.
